⭐ Why Devutthana Ekadashi is Special
📿 Devutthana Ekadashi Katha (कथा)
English Translation
In ancient times, Lord Brahma told his mental son Narada, "O Narada! I shall tell you the glory of Kartik Shukla Ekadashi. It is called 'Devutthana Ekadashi.'"
"When Lord Vishnu goes into Yoganidra on Ashadha Shukla Ekadashi, He rests on the serpent bed for four months. On Kartik Shukla Ekadashi, He awakens."
"On this day, Lord Vishnu's awakening occurs and all auspicious activities resume. That is why it is also called 'Prabodhini Ekadashi' (the awakening Ekadashi)."
Once in Indraloka, there lived a Gandharva named Madhukantha. He was very handsome but also arrogant. One day he insulted a Brahmin.
The Brahmin cursed him, "You shall become an evil demon." Madhukantha became a demon and came to earth. There he observed the Devutthana Ekadashi fast.
Due to the power of this fast, he regained his divine form and returned to heaven. Since then, this Ekadashi is considered very sacred.
